2007 Registration News and Information
Registration of Foals
At the February 16, 2007 FHANA Board of Directors Meeting a change was made in the fees for the registration of current year foals. Due to an increase of KFPS charges, Foal Registrations will be:
$225 if foal is sired by a stallion residing in North America, or $285 if foal is sired by a stallion residing outside of North America. This fee will also include the DNA/Microchip kit and the FHANA judging (inspection/keuring) fee.
The procedure for registering foals will be:
1. Foal owner to submit a completed "Birth Announcement" to FHANA, along with appropriate payment (see above)
2. FHANA to send Birth Announcement to the KFPS in the Netherlands
3. A "blue paper" (aka temporary registration) will be issued
4. The blue paper, along with a DNA/microchip kit will be mailed to the foal owner
5. The foal owner must then contact their veterinarian to have the chip injected and DNA hair sample pulled
6. The foal owner will then return the DNA hair sample and affidavit to the FHANA office
7. The foal owner will have the choice of taking the foal to an inspection (September/October) or registering the foal without judging
8. The foal owner must still enter the foal for the inspections on the appropriate forms although the judging fee will have already been paid
9. After the judging (or before if "Registration without Judging" is selected) a laminated registration paper will be issued to the foal owner
